Please come prepared with your own equipment to ski and snowboard at The Vets. We do not have any equipment available for rental and due to liability we will not have our donation room open during the ski season.

If you are in need of equipment for the 2026 season, be sure to be on the look out for our ski and snowboard swap in the fall of 2025 where members of the Franklin Outing Club can get equipment for FREE.

Visiting The Vets during off hours
You can visit The Vets to hike up and ski/board down, sled, snowshoe, bike or hike the trails any day of the week!
Please do not proceed up the hill if the groomer is actively working on the hill. There will be signs letting you know that the groomer is working. We also ask that you avoid the ski trails during normal operating hours. Please avoid marked snowmobile trails. Always look both ways and cross snowmobile trails and tracks with caution.
Mountain Safety
Observe Your Responsibility Code
Veterans Memorial Recreation Area is committed to promoting slope safety. In addition to those using traditional alpine ski equipment, others on the slopes include snowboarders, telemark skiers, skiers with disabilities, skiers with specialized equipment, and many others. Always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing and snowboarding that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Know your ability level and stay within it. Observe Your Responsibility Code. Share with others the responsibility of being a great steward of the ski and snowboard experience.

Ten Points to Your Responsibility Code: NSAA Ski Safety
-
Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
-
People ahead or downhill of you have the right of way. You must avoid them.
-
Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
-
Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
-
You must prevent runaway equipment.
-
Read and obey all posted signs, warnings, and hazard markers.
-
Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
-
You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
-
Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
-
If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.

Winter sports involve risk of serious injury or death. Your knowledge, decisions and actions contribute to your safety and that of others. If you need help understanding the Code, please ask any ski area employee or volunteer.

Know and Obey the Code: It’s Your Responsibility
