Located within the Great Gains Forest, the Veterans Memorial Recreation Area spans 50 acres and is operated by the Franklin Outing Club, a 501(c)(3) volunteer-run nonprofit.

Veterans Memorial Recreation Area 

Hours of operation: Year-round our hiking trails, mountain biking and disc golf are open to the public from dawn to dusk 7 days a week.

Skiing, snowboarding and sledding:
​Thursday nights 5 - 8pm
​Saturday 1pm - 7pm

Sundays 10am - 4pm

Thursday nights are done for the 2026 ski and snowboard season. Be sure to check back for weekend updates as the temps start to rise.
